Jiang Zengwei Led a Group to Inspect Food Safety in Guizhou

  

Vice Minister of Commerce Jiang Zengwei headed an inspection group of the State Council Food Safety Inspection Commission to inspect food safety in Guizhou on December 3. The group carried out an on-site inspection in Guizhou Sanlian Dairy Co., Ltd., Beijing Hualian Guishan Store and Qian Mogu Restaurant, and held a symposium and listen work report.

Mr. Jiang said that the State Council has attached great importance to food safety, and issued the Decision of the State Council on Further Strengthening Food Safety (the Decision) and the 12th Five-Year Plan for National Food Safety Supervision System (the Plan) in the second half of 2012, which specify clearly the overall thought of the work of China's food safety at present and in the period to come, and the right direction for further strengthening food safety. It is also stated clearly in the 18th Party Congress report that it is necessary to reform and improve the food safety supervision system in order to improve people’s health, reflecting the determination of the Party and the Country to improve food safety through unremitting efforts.

Mr. Jiang said that the national food safety inspection, organized by the Food Safety Commission of the State Council, is to implement the Decision and the Plan, and to ensure that all key work in food safety to be implemented in 2012, and that China's food safety to continue to be improved.

Mr. Jiang stressed that it is necessary to find out the outstanding problems in our work and the hot issues on food safety through inspection and summarizing experiences, making efforts on management and supervision of food safety in the spirit of people first, and giving priorities on people's livelihood so as to safeguard people’s food safety. The food producers and traders shall, in accordance with laws, regulations and food safety standards, carry out productive and operational activities, establish and improve the food safety management system and adopt efficient management measures to ensure food safety, and shall be responsible for society and the public.

The inspection group was made up of officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Health, the Administration for Industry and Commerce, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine and State Food and Drug Administration. The inspection focused on implementation of the Decision and the Plan, the food safety supervision system, the special campaign on food safety, the establishment of the report system, publicity and education and information management.
