The first session of Cross-strait Cooperation and Development Conference on Modern Service and Business was held in Taipei on June 12. Jiang Zengwei, Honorary Chairman of the Cross-strait Economic and Trade Exchanges Association, addressed the conference.

Jiang Zengwei said that in recent years, emerging service industries, pioneered by IT and high-tech, is playing an increasingly important role in all economies, and has become a new driving force to promote the sustainable growth of global economy. Accelerating industrial upgrading and technological advancement through the development of service sector will be an important measure to deeply involved in international division and to enhance international competitiveness.

Jiang Zengwei pointed out that with the signing of ECFA and the successful implementation of the Early Harvest Program, cross-strait service sector has ushered in new opportunities to deepen cooperation. Cross-strait cooperation in service sector has played a positive role in accelerating the transformation of economic development mode, and in enhancing the overall level of cross-strait service sector. The two sides should re-examine cross-strait economic development trend in a new level and platform, focusing more on long-term benefits and common interests, and making efforts to foster new growth point for cross-strait economic development.

Experts and representatives from well-known enterprises exchanged views on the development and innovation of business services. Over 130 delegates from the Mainland and more than 500 people from Taiwan business attended the meeting.
