Vice Minister Jiang Zengwei's Speech at the Setting-Off Ceremony for Lecture Tour of Copyright Protection and Innovation-Oriented Nation

Good morning ladies and gentlemen,

First of all, I would like to, on behalf of the National Intellectual Property Protection Office, express our congratulations to the successful set-off of the Lecture Tour on Copyright Protection and Innovation-oriented Nation.

Strengthening intellectual property rights protection is of vital importance to the construction of innovation-oriented nation. Premier Wen said that the future world competitions would be completions for intellectual property rights.

Copyright protection is the keystone of intellectual property rights protection. Copyright protection enhancement is not only the requirement to construct an innovation-oriented nation，but is also helpful to regulate the market economic system. Regulation on the economic system will boost development of news, broadcasting and the publishing industry, as well as the television, music, animation, software and network industry, which are of great significance to economic development.

In April 26, 2004, China, for the first time in its history, made a one-week schedule for the promotion of “World Intellectual Property Day”. This event has been held for three years straight and has seen far-reaching educational promotion activities and has obtained tremendous gains and successes thereafter.

The 2007 7-day promoting activities on National Intellectual Property Rights Protection” has been on the full swing now. The lecture tour on Copyright Protection and Innovation-oriented Nation by the National Copyright Administration is an important part of the 7-day promoting activities. It is the first time for us to promote and advocate copyright protection in the way of lecture tour in some of our representative cities. Advocating and promoting copyright protection is of great significance in accelerating economic development and building innovation-oriented nation，as well as constructing a harmonious society. I am confident that this lecture tour will play an effective and active role in strengthening China’s independent innovation and marketing competence in copyright-related industries.

I wish a great success to the lecture tour on Copyright Protection and Innovation-oriented Nation.
