Mr. Jiang Zhengwei's portfolio is consisted of the Department of Commercial Reform and Development, the National Office for the Rectification and Regulation of Market Economic Order, and the MOFCOM Logistics Bureau. Mr. Jiang is also responsible for contacting with the provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.

Speech of Vice Minister Jiang Zengwei at the Launching Ceremony of Brand Promotion in Fujian

Comrades and Friends:

Good Morning!

I am very glade to come to Fujian, a famous city in Chinese history and culture, to take part in the launching ceremony of Brand Promotion. First of all, please allow me, on behalf of the Ministry of Commerce and Minister Bo Xilai, to extend my sincere thanks to Fujian Provincial Committee and Government and people of all sectors attending the activity of Brand Promotion in Fujian.

In order to fulfill the spirit of instructions from the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, to enhance self-initiated innovation, foster proprietary brand, drive up domestic demand, expand consumption and speed up the transformation of China's growth mode of foreign trade, the Ministry of Commerce launched the activity of Brand Promotion with the market as the orientation, enterprise as the object and brand appraisal, promotion, protection and recommendation as the goal to push forward and expedite the formation of a batch of competitive products with own intellectual property right which were popular by domestic and foreign consumers, to promote the sustainable and healthy development of national economy, to adjust structure of industry and products. The Activity adopted the promotion mode of organizing a large motorcade and inviting leading media and experts to take part in to walk through major provinces, cities and main export markets in 5 routes to launch promotion of proprietary brands in a large scale.

Fujian Province is located in the southeastern coastal area of China, the gateway to southeast China and meanwhile the important window for our country to connect with the world. Through over 20-year development, Fujian became one of the provinces with active private economy from a disadvantaged area. In the development process of export-oriented economy, Fujian enhanced the brand awareness, began to promote brand development in 1995 and obtained great achievements in the past over 10 years. In recent years, with the gradual development of export-oriented economy and rapid expansion of export scale, Fujian Province strongly implemented the strategy of developing export brand, steadily push forward the fostering and development of proprietary export brands and took a remarkable effect. By the end of 2005, Fujian owned 62 Chinese famous brands, 18 of them were the key brands to be fostered and developed. Now, Fujian became the province with most brands of sports shoes in China.

I sincerely wish that Fujian could further speed up the development of export-oriented economy through the activity of Brand Promotion to expedite self-initiated innovation, on the other hand, could form a favorable environment to attach importance to brand, protect and develop brand so as to make more Fujian enterprises and products become “Chinese Famous Brand” and even “World Famous Brand”.

In conclusion, please allow me to thank again for the support of Fujian Provincial Committee and Government, Fuzhou municipal committee and government and people of all sectors to the activity of “Brand Promotion”.
