Ministry of Commerce held conference on commercial work in China's residential communities on March 1. Over 150 people, including officials from relevant department of State Council, authorities of commerce of China's provinces, municipality and autonomous region, and representatives from relevant association, residential community and enterprise attended the conference.
Development on commercial work in China's residential community in recent two years was summarized, work experience was fully exchanged and commercial work in 2007 was deployed on the conference. Vice Minister Jiang Zengwei delivered a speech on Accelerating Commercial Development in Residential Communities and Promoting Domestic Consumption Growth.
Jiang said experienced hard promotion in two years, especially since implementation of commercial project in community with the theme of bringing convenient consumption to communities and service to home, all local authorities of commerce developed work with creation. Nearly 700 state level and province level exemplary communities were fostered in 2005 and 2006, which played the guiding role in commercial development. The preliminary developing structure turned in the work.
Jiang stressed that community commercial development mainly represented general request of fulfilling scientific developing outlook and building up harmonious society, and it was the key measure to fulfill spirit of promoting consumption of central economic work conference. It was proved that the implementation of the commercial project brought convenience to residents' life, guaranteed consumption safety, improved service of community enterprises, and enlarged employment. It would be advantageous to promote consumption and draw domestic demand through strongly developing community commerce, continuously broadening consumption fields, creating favorable environment to benefit and bring convenience to residents, and guaranteeing quick and secure consumption.
Jiang also pointed out that although positive development was gained in commercial development in recent two years, there were still problems waiting to be settled by various reasons. For instance, lack of recognition in significance of the development, the current situation that without reaching the demand of consumption, and imbalance in general development. Aiming at the above problems, Ministry of Commerce would, taking fulfilling the commercial project as the core, taking the planning, criterion and regulation as guarantee, taking chain operation as the body, arouse enthusiasm from all fields, broaden community commercial fields by all effort, explore new developing pattern and completely improve level and quality of community service.
