The Expo Central China 2006 successfully closed on Sept. 28.
The Expo attracted wide attention of thousands of businessmen and made substantial achievements. He Tongxin, Deputy Governor of Hunan Province and secretary-general of the Expo Organizing Committee, briefed that total 1199 projects of investment invitation were signed at the Expo. 363 projects were concerning utilization of foreign investment and the contract value reached US$9.9 billion, of which value of 172 projects were above US$10 million, and total foreign investment of them hit US$9.109 billion. 67 projects were committed projects of foreign investment, and 37 of them had foreign investment of more than US$10 million and the commitment hit US$3.3 billion. 6 provinces in central China totally signed 356 projects of foreign investment with a value of US$9.58 billion, of which value of 166 projects exceeded US$10 million, and total invited investment of them reached US$8.79 billion, besides, signed 575 projects of domestic economic cooperation with a value of RMB76.47 billion, of which value of 175 projects was above RMB10 million, and total contract value of domestic investment amounted to RMB60.96 billion.
Foreign and domestic trade at the Expo was active: exhibitors totally signed US$1.149 billion export contracts and RMB9.71 billion domestic economic cooperation contracts. The 6 provinces signed US$1.145 billion export contracts and RMB8.364 billion contracts of domestic trade.
Total 19 contracts of engineering services were signed at the Expo with a value of US$258 million, as well as 4 projects of labor service cooperation with a value of US$7.98 million, besides, 411 labors were dispatched overseas. 5 contracts of foreign investment were signed with total investment of US$22.4 million, of which US$12.9 million were Chinese investment. 60 contracts of investment cooperation in tourism were signed with a value of RMB12.35 billion, and 59 projects of them were located in the 6 provinces with total investment of RMB12.28 billion.
At the press conference, Mr. Jiang Zengwei, Vice Minister of Commerce, announced to the media that the Expo Central China 2007 would be held in April 2007 in Zhengzhou, Henan. Shi Jichun, vice governor of Henan Province, took over the banner from Mr. Jiang Zengwei and said that Henan would adhere to the intent of "Promoting the Rising of China, Achieving China's Glory" of the Expo to innovate the form with all efforts and increase content of the expo, and would learn the successful experiences and operations of the first session to strive to make the following session the most attractive international and comprehensive expo in central China.
Mr. Jiang Zengwei announced the formal opening of the Website of Expo Central China and click the button to launch the website. It was leant that the website timely issued authoritative information about the Expo in an all-round way since the experimental operation on July 1, 2006. During the 3 months, the website published more than 10 thousand items of information and provided service of exhibition to over 20 thousand exhibitors.
